I'm with you Will, if I could I'd have everything plumbed together. One test, one adjustment, one water change. 'Course, if anything went seriously wrong I'd just lose everything. (But what could go that wrong?)

No kidding. I'm working on combining a few of my systems, but I'll still have at least three separate ones. I'm really lazy about testing because I have to do so many...

haha, My wife works in the medical field also, so she gets me the stainless scissors and tweezers and syringes. Although she does ask first. It's all about who ya know, or how big your pockets are. J/K . Can't wait to see the tank pics. Nice so far.

It is not the testing that is PITA but the water changes. We did three of them this afternoon. I'm tired!!

I'm with you guys, the lesser amount of systems the better... I'm combining a few of mine once Ty finishes my tank and some stands... I'll be down to two systems!!! Well, three if you include my wifes nano...

I hate having to do a water change, or sometimes two every week... I agree that the testing is the easy part... Especially when you only check every 3 or 4 months... lol

I think drill more holes was the way to go. We had Ty take out the overflow and put two return on either side of the Return. We will put the powerhead cord on the outside holes in pvc pipes. One question we are trying to decide if we should put sand in it and how much rock? The only fish will be a pair of onyx clowns. The rest of the tank will be frags. It will have a large sump with a skimmer and rock. Any suggestions?

My Frag tanks are BB. But mine are stuck in my equipment room and looks didn't matter much to me. Since your frag tank is sorta of a display I guess go with what you think looks best. With only 2 fish you really wont even need a skimmer.

H@rry hit the nail on the head its more the combination of testing, adjusting then retesting that gets old with multiple systems. Of course it makes water changes a little more work Mine were all one system. I split them with the idea that I would have one system for SPS and the other for mainly softies with just a few SPS. I thought maybe SPS would do better in a system with out all the soft coral. So far that just hasn't showed.. The mixed system seems to do the best.. Pieces of the same coral grow just as good if not better in the mixed reef. I guess now the only reason why I keep it this way is for redundancy. At the same time though if you combine your systems you add stability from the increased water volume. Who knows that extra water volume could be the difference between a full crash or just a minor issue. I got to quit thinking about it or I'll be doing some plumbing....

you could do one of the display walls. I think it was fill a foam covered in epoxy with holes and squares for frag plugs on a gradual slope. keep LR in sump. after the coraline covered it was really nice looking. I will try to find it again to give you the link or yall could use you diy skills if you have an idea of what im talking about.

I already have the foam stuff left over from the shelve we made for one of the other tanks. I am trying to talk Don into it. He is not convinced. The only problem with the foam stuff is it flows.
