New design Tunze 9002

Hi,

I was just at a LFS today trying to buy a 9002, but they told me that they won't have it until about two weeks later. They said the reason was because there will be a new version of the 9002 out by then. Is this true?

Yes and no. There is no radical design change coming but we are changing to a different pump. The new pump is a bit stronger and should be quieter and easier to service. It is basically a mini version of the 1073.020 Silence pump. However, we may still get one more shipment with the old style pump before the change over and there will be no external difference in the packaging and no real difference in performance or function. The new pump only does about 10gph more and uses about 1 watt less.

How will I know which one I am getting then?

By opening the skimmer, there will be no other notice, it is a very modest and fairly inconsequential change.
