NEW Discovery

I just found a huge nudibranch in my reef .It`s about 3 inches long and 2 inches wide solid black looks like velvet with frills . Its pretty cool looking .I put 2 in my tank 3 years ago but they had thin blue lines on them and they were real small I`ve changed tanks since then and Ihavent added anything . could it be one of those? Anyways nice suprise. The kind I like

I couldn`t get a picture thats when I found the digital camera that I bought my daughter for her birthday was stolen . So yes my excitement was quikley spoiled. theres no telling when I will see it again .

based on size, I would guess it's a Scutus

Cool thanks Curt. I went to that link and that fist picture was him pretty cool . I realy don't know where he came from I havet added anything in my reef in years I think he lives off the yellow sponges I have in my tank .I have noticed theres not as many as before and thats what he was on when I saw him .

Do some Googling. Believe it or not, that's a snail and not a nudibranch. It's a fun and harmless animal to keep.

Interesting .I do have some of those half shell snail looking things I used to take some out they were over populateing. But they too are harmless I guess . scutas .When I get back from deer hunting I will do more research thanks for the help .Curt
