New Dry Rock

Yes I have a 90 gallon tank. I ordered it a little bit ago so hopefully I will have it thursday or friday and I will get some pics posted. I also already have about 60 or so pounds of rock but most of it is smaller with a couple larger pieces. I will hopefully get some good large pieces to build a nice foundation and then add what I have to the top. After I do this I can finally get my tank filled and then I will go buy a couple pieces of live rock to start it out.

You may even ask Marco if they have any more of there :Cherry Pick" stuff left over. That way you can order the sizes you want.

At 2.19 a pound and free shipping I had to order a little of the new rock from Bulk Reef Supply. I will post some pics once it comes in.

well of course they have the free shipping offer 3 days after I order mine elsewhere. Well at least now we will be able to see what both of them look like.

i was very happy with the box of marco i had bought...

i just wish i had drilled and worked it over before i put it in...

yeah I think I am happy with my purchase. The only thing I wish was for a few more of the larger size ones but oh well still nice rock.

Do you all just stack your rock or do you drill and dowell it or putty it or anything?

Totally depends on the rock and the rockscape. I've puttied a little bit but most is just dry stacked so if I get a new piece I can move things around.

I was hoping to drill mine and do acrylic rods but now that it is drawing closer I fear busting the rocks during drilling. So, I'm still unsure.

Agreed, but with the acrylic rods you can do a high rise without having to make a really wide pile. It has the potential of freeing up more swimming room. Also, with the pillar your going to get less restricted flow than you would with a bigger piling of rocks.

That being said, I will most likely do a pile. :)

BTW, my rock came in today. I will post pictures later tonight.

25 lbs. I asked for larger pieces and 2 are nice sized. Not the 20lbs single piece like cdbias has pictured above but still nice sized. :)

This is nice looking rock. I believe the older stuff was nicer but this still has some fantastic shapes. With all of the holes and crevasses it has a very large surface area.

looks like the same rock I got from Marco. I got mine stacked last night and the tank filled. I got pics over at CVRC and will try to get some posted here later.
