New England Aquarium

I recently took my family to the New England Aquarium - after choking on the parking fee ($30 bucks :mad2: ), the aquarium itself was fantastic. Their current special exhibit is jellyfish and the displays were amazing. The highlight is their massive ocean tank which is several stories tall with a spiral walkway and viewing panels from top to bottom.

We had the privilege of watching divers feeding the fish - amazing to see the personalities of the different fish and how they reacted to the divers. They also have some incredible reef tanks. I could have spent all day in there examining every detail - unfortunately, little kids don't have the same attention span. They can enjoy each display for a few minutes but then they want to move on.

Just wanted to share the experience and recommend it to others as a good trip. We might even be able to arrange a group trip to get better rates and some behind the scenes access which would be very cool. Also, you can pay $15 bucks for parking if you drove around a little - not knowing Boston at all screwed me.

Yeah Jill and I also made the same mistake. You parked at the nearest lot to the aquarium huh? Yeah we also got raped for $30

Hotel parking wasn't any better. That was $60 or 80 i think for 3 days. Kinda unreal.

I defin know what not to do on the next trip. lol

A great trip! I'd like to do it again soon.

The problem with the parking right by the aquarium is that they have big signs routing you into this garage but the signs do not indicate the rates. You get trapped in a line of cars going into the garage and when you get up to the actual gate where you get the ticket, that is when you find out you are about to take it in the rear - there is no attendant, no way to turn around. You have to take the ticket for the automatic arm to open and that act costs you 30 bucks. Lesson learned.

Yeah there are some $10 lots, but you walk a bit. Also some cheap places over by the children's science museum across the bay (well worth taking the kids to if there). If anyone heads down that way, drop me a line. I lived outside dc for 6 years, and might be able to save a few headaches....

We just visited the national aquarium in Baltimore on our honeymoon. We found a similar parking situation $21.00 but it was well worth the price.

Robin and I were lucky when we took Cameron 2 1/2 yrs ago. Don't think we paid $30 and we were a block from the aquarium. And at MACNA we got to park at the hotel for free and had the discount water taxi tickets we used to go across the water to the aquarium and lunch (no not at the aquarium, at Legal Seafood)

Ahhhhh Legal seafood. An institution my father took me to that he used to visit when he was a college at Tufts. That place had the best blackend fish I've ever had.

I want to the cold water aquarium in Quebec city in April it was great.
6 hour ride from albany good hotels at cheap prices and a great city "old Quebec". Also they appear to be a lot more friendly in QC city over Montreal.
