Wow. I hadn't seen this one. I hope this all works out for you guys (I know it will). I have to say (staying mostly out of the discussion on purpose

) that the LFS' and frag swaps were largely responsible for a large number of our new signee's. LFS (like Chris said, esp. the Critter because they seem to have a larger audience, though EBay usually has a pretty good sized turn out, too, just not quite as large) meetings were always the largest, though we did pull some nice sized ones from time to time (sometimes unexpectedly). I can say that the first frag swap brought in some great members that the club might have missed out on (as well as the second, but many of those who came in on the first were the biggest help on the second). That portion of people are some of the most active in the club now. The club really started to get active when I announced I was leaving and wouldn't be running for pres. That was when everyone stepped up and it seems to be rolling now. Jack is spending alot more time with it than I was on the administrative side (or course, I was never actually elected pres, so I felt like it wasn't my place for some things...) and it is headed in a new direction, without too much extra effort (I can't quantify what a lot more means, but he has four kids to give you an idea of how much avaiable time he has). Mainly a lot more background support. It had gotten stagnant or something under my reign

D), but when the right people came in (even though it wasn't a significant number compared to the existing body of the club-2 or 3 can make a huge difference) and an opportunity for change came about, it took on a new life. The new BOD seems to have more involvement from a more general group of people, which only sparks more interest from others (it can be exponentially infectious, it seems). I guess the moral of that rambling was that sometimes it will just click and all come together. How manay made it through all of those inserted parentheses'd thoughs

?
I did alot when I was in (or the, I guess) BOD for MTRC, so I know how you guys (and Mel

) are feeling. Maybe this will be the spark the club needs to get everyone moving. No one can contest the availability of knowledge, comraderie, and assistance on this site and in your club (I just got hooked up by a number of you-that is exactly the type of thing I am talking about). For those who are afraid it will take up a lot of your time, so you're afraid to get involved-it really won't. If 25% of the club members start to pitch in 20 minutes of their week, more will get done than needs to be done

. You guys have got some great members, new and old. A few can pull it along and keep it alive, but it takes roots and foundation to make it thrive...
