I suppose I should update everyone on my hiatus (sp). In jan of 09 my father was diagnosed with ALS aka Lou Gherigs. Average life with the diagnosis is 3 to 5 years and he was exceptionally fast in progression. We had our house remodeled to accomodate both parents moving in with us. In the mean time we had 2 houses to sell and cleanout as well as maintain until they sold. tons of work!! In November my father did pass away from the effects of ALS.
The hardest part for me was the diagnosis and knowing what was going to happen and what needs he would have and how we should / could deal with things like respirators , feeding tubes, etc. The last 2 months were very hard emotionally on everyone in our family, Laura (my wife ) and I were even talking about marriage counseling.
My Mother still lives with us at our home and always will

. We miss him but there are no feeding tubes in the afterlife
I wish there was a happy medium between fatal car accidents and cancer. So that we all could say our good bye's and not have to witness any suffering. But such is life. I have grown a new appreciation for life and even things like making my own cup of coffee or holding my kids

from my experience.
Well now we are all current
