new feather duster

I just recieved a feather duster that was a christmas gift. I picked him out. It looks like you typical feather but with orng band like stuff growing on him and what looks like a barnical. My question is this i bought him late a night. So I did not think anything of it when he was not faned out none of the worms they had were faned out. This was 4 days ago. I have not seen him faned out yet. I know the worm is alive I can see him moveing back and forth in his tube. I even pulled him thinken he was dead and he moved in my hand in the tube. Is there any thoughts as to what i should do? Is he dieing, stressed or just fine? Any info would be great thanks.

i bought 3 from an online vendor over the summer. two came out right away, the other didn't come for almost a week. after that, he came out all the time. maybe it's just an adjustment issue, should be ok . just give it time...
