Preconditions for the new ProfiLux Touch firmware 1.02:
- ProfiLuxControl 5.1.1.1
- ProfiLux Firmware 5.11 release from 23. Nov 2011

After updating ProfiLux, ProfiLuxControl and ProfiLuxTouch the pictures stored in ProfiLux Touch need to be updated.
In PLC 5.1.1.1 you will find a button "Update pics" in the Touch-Menu. Click it and wait until the data has been transfered.
Since much data are transmitted over PAB I recommend to connect to ProfiLux over LAN, this connection is faster than USB und RS232.

Downloads as always are here

Is this a good controller? I am looking to get something to a) make sure my temps are stable b) check and monitor the occasional perimeter.

Probably the best on the market! And thats not sales hype.

Hyper reliable, German built, comes with over 200 accessories that can be added as you choose if you choose

Global product (no other mainstream controller is)

7 days a week support back up.

Best in its class award last year in Europe.

I've had the pleasure of owning a couple of different controllers and my only regret with this one is.. I didn't do it sooner!

There is no ONE controller that's perfect for everyone but I can say that this controller has been perfect for me since day one. I'm a tinkerer and a control freak so this unit caters to both sides of my personality.

A) I can play/tinker/tweak with my tank 24-7 if I so desire (I can also set it and forget it if I so wish.. which I don't LOL)

B) Once set up this controller and monitor, control, alert, and just about anything else your heart desires. If you're willing to get the additional components and dig into the "Programmable Logic" you can do just about anything your heart desires.

One thing I would LOVE to be able to do in the future (don't have the right tank & equipment right now) is the "Automatic Water Change" which is a big WOW!!

If you're thinking about "going ProfiLux" I say go for it and never look back :)

Michael if someone (like ME) isn't running the "Touch" do I need to upgrade to 5.11 (FW and PLC)?

Also am I correct in thinking you can do this upgrading via the Ethernet connection since you stated

Correct me if I'm wrong as I wont attempt the update until I hear back from you re:Ethernet vs USB update

I doubt it is the best controller, it seriously could be if something was done about the outdated software.

Web based server is poor, text alarm options are limited, also unable to tell what is alarmed.

Has potential but needs the development to be put into the software.

Name one other controller that has over 250 useful dedicated accessories and has the impeccable track record of reliability so much so massive public aquariums rely on it.

Software is just one of the gogs that makes GHL so great, having said that there are some great things happening with the software as we speak.

Wow! Talk about having bad taste. It's very rude and "self serving" to drop such a comment into an "Informational Thread". :headwalls:

This thread is here to notify the users of the GHL ProfiLux of an important update not as to open yet another long-winded debate over which controller is the best. NO controller is perfect for everyone but some of us who have had OTHER controllers find it to be a VERY good fit for our needs and wants.

Not trying to have a debate, But when you make claims that it is the best then
show us the anecdotal evidence.

From what i have seen, more controllers do the same thing, sure GHL might have some extra accessories, However for the most useful functions that we need they all do basically the same thing, i am not knocking GHL at all as i love mine, however the software development side really does lack real grunt.

Why the lack of attention to this?

Its hardly self serving , this is the biggest complaint about GHL i always hear.

Please read my post again there is no lack of attention, the current software also is more advanced than any other in the industry, but GHL are always self improving.

Name another brand that offers all the functions in software GHL does?

Please dont get me wrong and think I am biting back, I am not but not everything being developed is published. The common ground is to move away from software and onto web based browser control and this is where GHL are at right now, why spend a fortune on some fancy graphical software when the majority now want app based. This is why PLC6 was sent back to the drawing board, times changed in between.

If you would like to continue a debate about the software please feel free to open up another thread save this one being taken off track, thanks :)

"Best" is subjective and a personal preference. ANY software or hardware has the potential and development time will be needed.

You're seriously been living under a rock or just have something bitter on GHL. Do you actually own a GHL controller? No info on the alarm? Really? This is the alarm text/email I get when there's an alarm. Clearly, what ever caused the alarm is shown.
