Important Note on Firmware Update

I wish I could update firmware from LAN since that is the only connection I can get to work.
RS232 doesn't connect, even bought a new one to try and still no joy. USB won't connect, really frustrating. Heck, my Mitras won't update firmware, for such a high end controller and lights one would think updating firmware would be simple for the average home user. Serial ports, virtual USB???

I think if you are not able to update mitras or the controller I really think the issue more lies with the PC rather than the equipment, or you could be missing a step. I highly doubt two systems that use totally different update concepts would experience the exact same issue.

Please refer to the support forum for assistance, lets work on getting you up and running rather than critique ;)

i have the same problem, can't get the RS323 adopter to work with my GHL - tried everything i even re installed my Window 7 ( i usually use mac but GHL won't budge and make it mac compatible bearing in mind its 2014 for god sake! and i know there is something called myGhl will be coming out at some point this year but i won't be able to use it as i need to update my flipping FW i still rn on the old one because i can not update)

i checked my port com in device manager it works and assigned to com3-

i tried to run com scan on GHL again nothing - tried to match the com In the GHL setting to the one on the device manager list i.e. COM3, it connects but then immediately discconect and give me code 28 !

its really frustrating given the money i paid for two Ghl unites and expransion box mitras and 7 power sockets PAB - Come on this can be real i can't update or connect to hl unit !! and please do not tell me it is a pc issue :furious::furious:

Please post on aquariumcomputer.com GHL will help you directly they do not offer support here.

Im sure you have installed your USB adapter driver. if not please do so otherwise it wont work

our cousin in Germany are slow forthcoming with answers, i did correctly install the driver and went to device manager to check driver if it works and all looks kosher !! but for unknown reason the ghl software disconnect immediately after connection

this is frustrating, am really about to give up, all other products i have work flawless i already replaced my Mitras with radion which work like a treat

it upsets me how such supposedly good products like ghl they are not reliable!

GHL did not make your adapter so they have absolute no control over your unreliable adapter, I think we need to step back a bit here and look at where the problem lies.

Its the adapter that the PC is looking for NOT the ProfiLux.

Assuming you have a P3 controller there is nothing stopping you using the built in USB socket. I assume you have installed both GHL USB drivers for this port.

I see you are now also posting on the support forum so save duplicate threads support will continue over there

thats only because I have a quiet 5 minutes ;)

Yes you can
and
here is the link to downloads (only you can decide what you need as you need to select the right operating system). Make sure you download both USB drivers for the Profilux and make sure you update the firmware before the software.

https://aquariumcomputer.com/en-GB/ghldownloads

**** AND PLEASE***** FOLLOW ALL onscreen prompts especially when it tells you to ok the download on the controller BEFORE pressing OK on the software, if you don't you will be not a happy boy with the outcome ;)

thanks am giving it a try now hopefully it will be happy ending and all work thanks for your prompt replies and help

The best way is to find a PC or laptop with serial R232 port and use the Flasher program to update the firmware. 99% of the time when I upgrade the firmware via USB, it crashes and the unit blanked out. Only the Flasher program can reliably erase the old firmware code and upload the new firmware code. I hate updating the firmware on the Profilux. I would have to pull out my very old laptop with the R232 port. It's the only way I can get the upgrade to work.

Agree 100%

If you have a P3 you do not need to use the RS232 to use the flash tool

please see the download section of the GHL website for updating the firmware for P3
