New fish additions hiding for over a week?

Last weekend I added a royal gramma and a yellow watchman goby. Saw both the first night. Now 8 days later still haven't seen them.

How long to I assume they're dead? Or will they just come out when they're ready?

Have you fed the tank and they still haven't came out? Did you qt them? How did you acclimate them? How big is your tank?

I know it's not uncommon for new addition to hide for a while, personally I've never had a fish hide for more than a day on me. Especially a sand sifting goby, as they usually start working the sand bed immediately. The gramma is definitely more inclined to hide.

I would give it more time, since it's a new tank you should be watching your ammonia and if you see a big spike you can assume that one or both may have died. If not I would probably give it a month before I decided to purchase another of the same species.

Forget it's a 72 gallon now front. I floated the bags for 20 mins and dripped them for 30. No QT. I know I took a chance but no signs of anything wrong with the other fish yet (fox face and 2 o. Clowns)

I can't seem to keep grammas alive in my tank they dissapear overnight

Do you have cuc? How big were they to begin with?

My Granma was hiding in the QT for over a month. It came out to eat, but it hid again. It took her more than 6 weeks to be somewhat comfortable. It took here only couple of days in the DT, however.

My watchman goby has been in my tank for 3 weeks now. I have to look REALLY hard sometimes to find him. He does not like the pellets that much so I have to spot feed frozen food to him and my starfish once a week.

Just now at three weeks he is starting to come out a little bit more and more, i actually saw him swim yesterday to get a pellet.

Seems these little rock dwellers are very skiddish.

CUC consist of 30+ snails 10 hermits(bad choice) 1 cleaner shrimp, 3 peppermint shrimp. And a sand sifting starfish. My kids talked me into that one.

Just tested ammonia. .25 using API tests. Hope at least one turns up. I'm sure the CUC took care of anything that died.

I added two fire fish. They disappeared after 2 days. I figured they'd died. A week later, 1 reappeared, the second showed up a week after that. Now they're always front and center...

If they croaked a cuc will make short work of a gramma especially the shrimp

I had a fighting conch die and it took me a week to realize he had died until I noticed the shell in the same place everyday and my film algae near the sand getting denser and denser then my brother told me he saw the shrimp picking at the conch a few days earlier so there's that
