New Fish

I bought my wife an Emperor Angel Fish for her birthday, Thursday. I checked it out real good and acclimated to our tank. It has really been doing well so far. I can look at it from above pretty close and it doesn't have a blemish on it. I hope this continues. It eats good but has also nipped at one of my sps. That's the only one I have seen it bother. I may have to move it to another spot. I still would rather have the fish than that particular coral. She named it King George. Does anyone else have bad results with this fish?

About 2000g

Pics or it didn't happen. I can't see anyone with a 2000 gallon tank not doing a QT. If you mean liters and not gallons, I can't see anyone with a 528 gallon tank not doing a QT. As for the fish itself, it is my understanding they are not reef safe.

OP asked me to tell you guys he's a little busy cleaning the tank right now, he had me take this pic for you to believe him

PS I'm guessing it's a typo for 200 but who knows

ROFL. To op, I think angels are typically hit or miss with regards to coral nipping. If it doesn't nip at that one, it can just as easily peck at a different one. I'm sure there are numerous factors involved, tank size, how well fed, stress, etc that can contribute.

The pic you posted in your other thread asking for an id on your hitchiker looked fine. It's a little tricky at first, but I'd say youve got the hang of it as well a most people do.
Sometimes when I'm in a rush I find it easier to just attach the photo to the post, rather than upload it to somewhere. That's why the one I posted above looks different.

I know I should have quarantined the fish, but He had just come in at the fish shop and I watched the guy start to acclimate him and said something about I would like to have one of those but was afraid to take him now, being that he was starting acclimation. The owner said he would guarantee him for 72 hours, so I figured it would be worth a shot. So I felt like it would be less stress on the fish if it were put into the big tank, which would be a little more like it was in the wild again and it wouldn't get as stressed. It still looks great so I hope all will be o.k. I don't care for it nipping at the coral but feel like when it finds the algae clip, it may slow down on the coral. The coral has green polyps that bloom out and I guess the fish thinks its algae.

How many fish do you have in your tank?

If it's 2000 gallons, I'd pull all the fish and quarantine them all. Let the tank sit with no fish in it for 3 months, then re-add the quarantined fish.

The amount you'd spend to fill a 2000 gallon tank will be far to high too risk losing all your fish (and $$$$$) due to one sick fish.

It's a lot of work, but will pay for itself many many times over.

There is no way in the world I can empty that tank, It has about a ton of rock in it plus all the water, no way to catch the fish. I just re-started it about 3or 4 months ago and it is way too much work for one person.
