New Flavoguttatus Anthias

I have had luck with them by starting them off with Ocean Nutritions (Arctic Pods) then slowly weaned them over to flake food and mysis or brine shrimp.

They certainly are one of my favorites!

Sorry for the delay getting back to you Joyce,

In my first photo the one farthest to the left is the male, they have less distinct red bars on the back than the female does and the females tend to stay smaller.

The male is definitely more dominant and aggresive than the female.

Take Care!

Thanks!

That is very interesting as it seems to be the opposite of many other fish whereby the male has more coloring.

It is easy to see in your photo.

A came across a few of these locally and was tempted. They were looking skinny though and I have had bad luck with fish from the particular store. They sure are pretty though!

Are they shy? Do they stay in the rockwork or swim around? Do they stay near each other?

Glad to hear that they are doing well!

Joyce

i just picked some of these up as well. they seem to be doing great, eating well and very active.

if you can get your hands on some, i highly recommend them. beautiful fish, and it's a plus that the females are more attractive than the males!

Just wish I could find some more!

I have to chime in on this thread. I recently picked up a trio of these anthias. I originally thought they would be delicate and difficult, since their close cousins (lori) can be that way. But I have to admit, these guys are very outgoing, and eat well. I'm anxious to see what long term success people have with them.

so, i picked up a pair of these, and seeing how well they're doing i'd love to add 2 more (especially as 1 will likely become a male). they seem like pretty sociable and mellow fish. good idea/bad idea, what does everyone think?

also, that's assuming i can find 2 more!
