So I got this little thing today for free from my LFS. They didn't know what kind it was except they said it was a spearer. Its a mud green color with little light blue spots all over it. Its about 1.5" long if that. Its so small. Any guesses would be appreciated.
Thanks Gina

This is a smashing gonodactylid. I can't see the dorsal telson well enough to tell if it is Neogonodactylus or Gonodactylellus. What color are the meral spots? Any idea if it is from the Caribbean or Indo-Pacific?

I also think its a smasher. I can't find the little guy right now in his nano to look closer. I don't know where its from as far as Caribbean or indo-pacific, but I do live in Fl on the water and my LFS gets lots of local stuff in. What would a mantis this small eat anyway?

They eat mostly small crustacean - amphipods, tiny crabs, etc. We feed ours adult brine shrimp and amphipods. Mysids will work fine.

I think its Caribbean I was told it was a hitchhiker. I haven't seen it since I put it into the tank, but I sure can hear the little guy.
