I got this gbta 1 week ago. It looked great in the lfs. It has roamed my tank looking for a spot. It hasnt found one yet. I came home tonight from work and found it looking like the first picture. The second picture is what it does when I shine the flash light on it. It looks like it got torn. I cant get a picture of that area. It opens and then it deflates. I tried to feed it but it a piece of silverside. It kind of held on to it but didnt eat. I caught my pep shrimp picking at it where it looks like its torn. I chased him away. He has stayed away for over an our now.
I have a rtba that is doing just great. tank parms are trite and trates are zero as well as ammonia. ph is 8.2 and salinity is 1.026. its a 55 g bowfront. 6 months old. t-5 lights 6x39w 10000k . even the lfs store said my water was immaculate. They thought I had a service do my tank. I do it all.

oh and my power heads are covered so it cant get sucked in.

its late after midnight im going to bed ill check back in the morning...hope someone has an answer for me.....

it does look like its foot is torn. that is not a good sign. more often than not if the foot is torn the anemone gets an infection and it's cleaners. keep a close eye on it and if you see its guts out or it flaking pieces off get it out of the tank ASAP to save any other livestock in the tank. good luck.

thank you for the info
Got up this morning and pieces were coming off. I got it out of the tank. I cant imagine how it would have torn its foot.
My pumps are all covered...Im so upset. It was really pretty when I bought it. This is frustrating

alot of times, the foot gets damaged in transit. like, when you bought it and the person that pulled it off the rock at the lfs damaged it. or it could have been damaged during collection. always look at the "foot" before you decide to purchase. or better yet, purchase the rock the nem is on.

It was attached to a giant snail shell when i bought it. We left it like that and it was put in my tank still attached to the shell. The funny thing is it wasnt like that thurs night when i went to bed. I didnt see it fri morning because it was still roamin around in there somewhere. But I came home fri night and it was in sad shape. The foot was perfect when I got it. It must have done it in my tank but how Ill never know....
