New Gigantea Anemone

I picked up this anemone and a pair of onyx clownfish from a friend of mine. I believe he had it for 6 months or so. He decided to part with it as his angelfish had started to pick at it. The anemone is in a dedicated 30 gallon cube tied to my main 240 gallon display tank, frag tank and surges. The total system volume is around 400 gallons. I am lighting the cube with a 250 watt reef optix 3 pendant.

So far it looks to be doing pretty well. If anyone can provide any advice, tips or experiences please do so.

Here are some pictures.

is that at 6 months in captivity? i have no experience in gigs but read if the tentacles are long then likely healthy. short or round tentacles indicate weak and or recovering anemone. i have seen on pictures beautifull healthy looking ones hardly have short tentacles like yours, but like i said, i have no gigs experience. and pics show taken in 2009 though so might not be the current condition today.....

The pictures were taken 2 days ago sorry I used the wrong copyright logo. I have had the anemone for 5 days. I am concerned about the short tenatacles as well. It was in my friends system for 6 months or so but he gave it to me sense his angels were picking at it. I am guessing that's why it's tentacles are short. So far it's mouth looks ok, has attached to my rockwork and has not moved.

Yeah if it was getting picked on by a angle that would make them small. Other than that its looking really good. And after its been in that tank for a while they should get longer once it figures out that its not getten eaten anymore.

No experience with gigantea so no advice to offer--but all three are gorgeous! How old are the clowns? The female especially has lovely coloring.

Nice score Tom! You're welcome to come over after the frag swap and see mine on Sat.

Thanks for the offer. I may or may not be able to depending on how quickly I get out of there since I am selling. If not I am in Naperville pretty often and can set up a time then
