New goodies from Reefer Madness

Good morning all...I have read a lot of threads on the quality service and products available from an RC sponsor http://www.reefermadness.us/ , so I decided to give them a try. I ordered 3 nice colonies and a frag...when I got the package it was like I was a kid on Christmas day all over again! Chris, the owner threw in 6 extra frags for me...5 Acro's and a blue polyp birds nest. The packaging was very good...the temp in the bags was 74, far better than any other on-line shipment I have received in Chicago-land in the winter. I usually buy only frags from other reefer's, and like to keep my business local, so I was a little worried...I'd have to say this went over pretty well though. Here are a few photo's from the website prior to ordering...enjoy!

Patrick :)

Patrick, I've checked out reefer madness just to see what they have and the pictures all look photo shopped. How do you think the colors match in real life compared to the pics on their web site?

IME, their pictures are pretty close but they do run 20K's if memory serves me. But the bigger question you should be asking is how do these corals hold that coloration in our systems over time? Remember that these are mostly wild harvested and those tend to change color when we get a hold of them (sometimes drastically).

Just my $.02

Depends on your definition of "real life". I would say close. They have these corals under 400w and 1000w 20k-14k metal halides. If you have personally seen what those bulbs do to coral color, you can picture how they will look in your tank. Right now, the are in the q-tank with XM 10k 250w MH, and they don't look THAT spectacular (still very nice though). Once they go in the main system under Venture 14K the colors will pop though. Also...I have witnessed numerous frags loose color in shipping, and color up in my system after a few weeks...even some of the frags I got from you lost some color in the hour trip back to my house. So I have to wait and see how they turn out in a month or so, that will be the true test.

Very nice pieces! I have actually gone to their location in LA and have shipped the corals back to Chicago. They have a great set-up out there and they are nice to deal with too.
