New Guy in Ames

Hello, thought i would introduce myself. I'm from the Twin Cities and live in Ames and in the Twin Cities. I am very new to saltwater and am realizing how different it is from freshwater. Thought I would stop and say hello. Anyone else around ames? -Caleb

I'll try to get some fresh pics up but I have two 29 Gal and a 2.5 Gal Pico.

-Scooter Blenny (trying to keep him well fed, but my first and only impulse buy is difficult to keep meat on his bones)
-Royal Gramma
-Yellow Tailed Damsel (would like to get a few more.)
- Blue Leg and Standard Hermits 20-25
- Atrea, Margareta, and Nassuris Snails
-2 Peppermint Shrimp.
-2 Arrow crabs
-Queen Conch
-2 Bumble Bee Snails
-1 Decorator Crab
-2 Emerald Crabs

Large chunk of Live rock covered in Mushrooms seeding 50 lbs of my second batch of homemade garf argocrete. The Chunk was a gift, Thanks Lori!

29 Gal.
-2 Oci Clowns (they bonded!)
-2 Firefish (also seemed to have bonded)
- Blue Leg and Standard Hermits 20-25
- Astrea, Margareta, and Nassuris Snails
-1 coral banded shrimp
-1 Arrow crab
-Queen Conch
-2 Bumble Bee Snails
-1 Decorator Crab
-3 Emerald Crabs
-Large Brittle Star.

Two large chunks of mushroom covered live rock seeding 50lbs of my second batch of argocrete.

2.5 Gal Pico (Eclipse that i modded the filter on, right now water flows over live rock rubble, through mesh, then through crushed coral, and out again through mesh)
-Arrow Crab
-Two Hermits
-1 each of Nassuris, Astrea, Bumblebee snails.
-1 Emerald Crab
Also, 1 humbug Damsal (ok second impulse buy) that has ich, Freshwater dips are working, but it keeps coming back. Only Temporarily holding in this small a tank and i feel bad enough shes stuck in that tiny tank with ich.

HMmm, well for now they are being nice, clean up well. Yhe etopicals had a special on them so i got 4. Thanks, glad to be here

That's right Jerry! Not to hijack the thread, but how are you coming with the 210 Jerry?

cwpvt100 (Caleb) I am from Ames and live just north of Boone. Two of the other GIRS members I know of from Ames just moved to DSM, Acidlittle and Ryansholl. At least when you join GIRS we will have another true Ames resident.
 
In the wall, putting the last coat of mud on tomorrow. I think I will be ready to move everything next weekend. Hope that works out for you.
 
welcome and I think there are a couple of ames folks who will chime in eventually - also some folks in the des moines/boone area too ...
