hello everyone. my name is ryan good and i live in new cumberland. i've been into this hobby for almost two years now. i maintain a mixed reef marine aquarium. my LFS is that pet place/that fish place. same as everyone in this area. haha. i've just found out about the susquehanna reef club yesterday. actually it was a guy at my LFS that told me about your club. i have a 45 gallon corner aquarium with a 20 gallon fuge. reef oct protein skimmer, oceanic chiller, 250watt MH, MAG 9.5 PUMP. this is my equipement. my fishies: flame angel, yellow tang, 2-black osc clown fish, neon dottyback, devil damsil and a reef safe starfish. a clean-up crew. my coral: purple acro and birds nest, xenia, frogspawn, open brain. my anemone: 2 rose and a long tentacle. this is my issue, which brought me to your club forum. in the past if i had aptasia, i would add a couple peppermint shrimp and problem solved. now my dottyback and one clown fish dont seem to allow them in the tank. they think they're snacks. i'm trying to find a couple burghia nudibranches.

Hi Ryan... Welcome!

I never had much luck with the berghia. Other fish took then out. I have had great luck with a Bristletail Filefish at eliminating aiptasia.

Sounds like a nice setup.

Thinking it is the dottyback that is taking care of your shrimp. Peppermints I feel are the best way to get rid of aptasia. I tried berghia as well with no success. I would try to catch the dottyback and place him in the sump for a couple weeks till the shrimp do their job.

Peps are great for aiptasia. They sometimes can pick at zoas and some other corals tho.

I've heard coppering butterly fish eat aptasia.

I had a CB as well. My CB took care of my overgrowth of little white feather dusters and would pick at aiptasia as well. The are not the hardiest of fish and can be very finicky.
