I have been wanting one of these since I began the saltwater hobby, but just did not feel I knew enough to care for one. Well one of my LFS 's said he could get them from his supplier and I decided to take a chance. He is currently in the 40bdr and has not moved from spot I placed him for about 3 weeks now.

Thanks garygb. 5yrs. of waiting, researching, and learning. I hope to move him into a 70 cube within the next year.

Sounds like you've done your homework and it's paid off. Glad you got a good specimen. As you know, they are sensitive shippers. Once established they are quite hardy though. It will make a great display for you.

Thanks for the complements. Actually OrionN, there is a pair of maroons in the tank with it. They really have not shown any intrest and perfer to stay in the LTA that I have had for about four years. I do have a pair of percs. ( 1 Rods and 1 Donis Picasso) in a 28 gal nano that I was thinking of moving over to the new cube with it. Then again, I could always get another pair of percs. Noodle, it is a puple base.

Quickcord I have a question for ya. I just got one of these on Thurs and was wondering if at any point did the tips of the tenticles ever get like a brown/tan/white color? The base of mine is a very very light purple along with most of the body and tentacles, just a couple of tentacles have this problem. Just wondering if this was a common thing due to shipping or if I possibly have a bleached specimen

I have not seen any discoloration in the tentacles since I have had it. I do know that they look like crap when they are shipped in. The store got three of them and they all had their mouth gapping and insides showing in the bags. I actually took mine right out of the shippers bag off the plane. After about 30 min. the mouth closed up and within 90 mins. it was fully inflated. Just taking it day by day right now.

Just an update. He is still doing fine and eating mysis when I feed the tank. He still has not moved and seems to have grown a little bit. I only have 150 DEs (Phoenix) on the tank right now and the Maroons still have no intrest in it. Oh and another little find by my LFS.

I ordered my cube tank this weekend and decided to go with the Marineland 93 gal. 30x30x24. I was wondering what light I should go with, Lumenbright 250 DE or Lumenmax 250 DE.
I asked in the equipment forum but still 0 replies. I figured the anemone experts might have some opinions.

I have the same tank with a Blue wave 7 with Lumen Max Elite DE. I like the small size of the LM Elite. It works great and give me plenty of light for my two Magnifica. Smaller size was what I needed under the hood.

Thats what I was thinking too. I do not have to worry about a canopy. I will be hanging it from the ceiling.

Yes I did. He is wedged between two rocks in the lower 3rd of the tank. The mouth is shut tight the majority of the time, but he is not eating yet. He is still sticky though and has a brownish hue to him which I believe is a good sign. Catches mysis and releases it, no reaction from the mouth. He also only deflates at night. My biggest concern, other than not eating, is that the female maroon has taken a liking to him. The gig is only about 4-4.5 across and the maroon is the same size. I am just keeping a close eye on it.

I moved the gig to the sump in a container with some live rock. The maroon won't leave it alone and it keeps detaching. He has been in there for about 90 mins., mouth still shut and attached to the bottom.(no sand in refugium section yet) I will have to decide what to do tomorrow. I have an extra 150w sunpod I can put over the sump or I can move him to the 28 gal nano cube and place the sunpod on that. Then at least the juvi percs could check him out.

The gig will be way too big for a 28 nano. He will need lots of chaotic flow as well which will be hard to do in a 28. You may want to put a rock in the sump b/c gig's tend to attach to a rock not burry their foot like Haddoni's do. Are you posotive it is a gig? Hard to tell for sure from the picture. Is there spots on the colum??
Honestly all 3 of those nems in a 40 is not a very good idea. But that is just my $0.02. Make sure you are running GAC b/c there will definatley be some Chemical Warefare with the 3 different species in such a small tank.
