looks okay. Looks slightly bleaches at the tips and they typically like to be at a high point on a flat surface with good direct light and a good amount of flow but we'll see. keep us updated. How big is your tank, what lights do you run?
I originally had this one on the top of that rock mound, but it moved its foot into that cave and is extending its tentacles out from there. I got this one 5 days ago, it's in a 28x28 cube 16 inches under a radium 250.
Originally posted by Flighty Looks like it might be a tricolor BTA, not a magnifica. Those pictures can't completely id, but I would say 65% chance BTA.
If you wait a day or two, where the foot goes will tell us (with the exception of if it climbs the glass) A flash photo that shows darker purple spots on the foot would confirm Magnifica, but those are hard to see when the foot is a little wrinkly like that. Not finding the spots leans us towards bta, but isn't 100%, purple mags sometimes have really hard to spot spots. There is something about the foot texture and the tentacle shape that screams bta at me after looking at these a lot. Look in my gallery to see a very similar colored, large BTA at a fish store.
Thanks for the info, I'll have to check when I get home. Will the spots be pronounced like on a gigantea? or will they be just an off colored spot? Also would the spots be located lower on the foot or closer up toward the tentacles?
If those clowns were in there like stink on sh%!, I'd say magnifica. If only quasi-inetersted, BTA. I'ce never seen an occ that can resist a magnifica.
You guys were right I think it's a bta. I saw a couple of its tentacles bubble this morning. Sigh... that's disappointing, I guess the search is still on.
