just got it yesterday i have a 33g with a coralife 150w halide and 2 65w pc.i am runing a remora c skimmer.i also have a rio 800 on constantly for surface agitation and 2 400 and 1 600 maxijets hooked to a red sea wavemaster.not sure where to place the bugger.flow and light?

Moderate flow and moderate light. Ours is pretty much mid-height in our tank, 10" below our PC lights. If it's getting too much flow, it won't open up all the way.

i just got a hammer coral as well. i have 3 awesome heads. what do i feed it. i still haven't seen the feeder tentacles come out either. is their a trick to keeping these things healthy and happy.

I feed our wall hammer mysis shrimp and brine shrimp. The long tentacles are sweeper tentacles, which are not required to be out for feeding. In the 6 weeks we've had our hammer, I've never seen its sweeper tentacles. The ends of hammer "polyps" (? -- if that's the correct term) are sticky and will catch food. Once a piece of food has stuck to it, that individual polyp will slowly retract, taking the food down to the mouth. I use a turkey baster to direct food at our hammer.

thanx but is the lighting i have enough to keep it closer to the bottom.i have it close to my brain coral but not to close.so flow should be ok right.brain opens and has sweepers out.the hammer still seems to be a little inflated even with lights oout.want this guy to thrive it looks awesome.can i feed it maybe small chunks of shrimp?any extra info will be great as well

It's not a bad idea to start it low and work higher. Judge by his extension. They don't seem to take direct food of any major size, but I feed cyclopeeze to the tank at large and it expands for that.

I have 220 watts over my 55 gallon of PC. My hammer is doing pretty good. Heres mine. Picture is BIG:

My hammer is doing awesome in low light which i didn't think would be possible. i have not seen the feeder tentacles either. I have it next to my candy cane and a frogspawn. is there a good time to feed them. i have heard they are an early morning feeder is this true.
