New hammer!

Just fell in love with this guy and had to bring him home last night. We've had our eye on a hammer for quite some time, and even the guy who worked there couldn't believe how great this one was priced, I had to jump on it. I like it even more now that its in the tank!

LOL...you can never have to much! Half of our 75 is totally taken up by about 300 total heads of hammer/frogspawn/torch. Upgrading to a 6 footer to continue to contain it all ;-)
 
All depends on water quality/flow and feeding. I feed ours twice a week with mysis and am constantly fragging and selling. You don't have to feed but they do grow faster if you do. It's addicting, I think i've ever acquired almost every color imagineable ;-)
 
We usually feed everything once a week; more often if sweepers are out. Only just started that within the last month LOL, we recently added candycanes and an open brain, which both have very noticeable sweepers. One of the coolest things I think I've seen in the tank so far was to watch them eat. Yes, even cooler than watching the nem eat! Our parameters are perfect, and readings are always consistent. I'm a little scared to try fragging... last time it was attempted (with candy canes) the whole thing died. He hasn't tried to frag anything in probably at least 5 years since then lol
 
LPS actually grows a little faster with slightly dirty water, but we also make keep our alk from the mid to high range which they seem to prefer as well. The branching variety is really easy to frag...the wall variety is a little harder (involves going through flesh). We have a big rainbow hammer and a purple frogspawn we're going to frag which both are the wall variety. It involves a dremel, bandsaw and titanium clippers to get clean cuts ;-)

I already have a Torch and a Frogspawn... may as well complete the set!

....... $85.... it was 119 but I had a 30% coupon too... which really made me jump on it when I did the math. Its about 9 or 10 heads, and they sell a frag of 1-2 heads for $40. I'm loving this thing more and more the more I look at it!! One of the best deals I've found so far.

Definitely a nice find.. well worth the cost! I only have an 8g to work with.. so I only buy frags... I paid $20 for a single head of Frogspawn... but it looks like it was already about to split.. so maybe I got a bargain too... :D
 
Sounds good to me! I try to limit my frag costs to about $20... I have a hard time spending $40, $50 or more on a little bitty frag... lol yeah I know it will grow, but I'd rather spend $80 on something 5x as big lol. We're running out of room in our 55 and upgrading to a 120... but I'm starting my own 10gal... not sure how thats going to work out with such a small space though, I'm officially addicted!
 
That is an awesome deal. I wish I could find some like that! I have had torches myself. They are definitely cool! I think the coolest I have seen where purple with a whitish tip. Good luck.

Not sure where you're located, but if my husband gets on the ball with getting our big tank set up...we'll have some golden torch, rainbow hammers and neon frogspawn frags for sale at the NCPARS swap in Lancaster in October.
 
There are always new ones I find that I want...but the hammers I have right now are: toxic neon green, purple with green tips, yellow, blue and rainbow (purple/pink). Everytime I look on the boards there is a new color combo ;-)
 
My girlfriend got me a hammer coral. It has to be the smallest frag of a hammer coral I have ever seen. I told her it ill be magnificent and take up half my tank... you will see... right now she thinks its ugly since my frogspawn is a monster.
