Hi Sunny and welcome.

Please drop in to the forum and let us know when you are coming up etc and if you need any help.

Also, if you are thinking of joining COMAS....make sure to do so by the Jan meeting.....lots of free giveaways.

Anyways, tell us more about yourself and your tanks.

Paul.

Wecome to the club and to OKC! Hope you make the Jan. meeting. Have you checked out the COMAS web site? Like Paul says, holler if you need any help.

Welcome to COMAS Sunny. You'll like the club, great giveaways and meetings (at least the ones I could attend).

WOW ~ 14 replies since I singed on... COOL!
I am originally an Okie, just haven't lived there for 20+ years.
Currently I have a 90 gallon reef, that is so full, it crazy!
The fun part will be moving this bad boy! Still trying to think through that transition, so if anyone wants to throw some ideas my way, that would be great!
Thank you for all the Welcomes and offers of help!
Where do I sign up and when and where are meetings held?

I will be moving over the christmas holiday, so hopefully it will work out to make it to the January meeting!

Again, Thank you for the wonderful welcome and I look forward to meeting ya'll!

Hi Sunny! Chris (cmc0814) and I have moved several tanks, and we live in Norman. We would be happy to help you move if you would like the help. We do have a couple plans over the holiday, but if we're free, we'll be there for ya.

Our president is Paul Whitby (pwhitby) and Stephanie Kohl (mskohl) is our Treasurer. You can talk with either one of them about getting a membership.

the moving of tanks is not too difficult if planned well. the best way to do it is with as much water as possible.

What i do....on the day of the move.

begin draining water into 5g jugs.
remove rock to a rubbermaid. soak an old towel and lay over the top.
Catch fish place in 5g bucket with battery airpump and diffuser.
pull the sand and place in buckets.

Load all into vehicle.

When you get here...we have glass clamps to make moving tanks easier.

Wash sand in some old tank water, drain really well and add back to tank. Add back rock and slowly add water. bring to temp and sue an airstone in tank to thoroughly re-aerate the water.

Add the fishies.
Drink a beer, sigh and say....wow...that was easy.

Paul.

Sounds like a good plan. I a have alot of coral though, so I was thinking about putting the rock with corals into big tubs with enough water to cover them and doing the same thing as with the fishies?! Whatcha' think?
My brother will be helping me and he has a large tank that he has moved (even if it is fresh water) so I think we will have things covered, just don't want to loose too much on the trip!
Thanks for the advise, I will start rounding up those 5 gallon water bottles, somehow I don't think the 2 that I have are going to cut it! LOL!

Furniture dollies are great to set the tank onto when you get it off the stand. It makes moving it so much easier on the back. My 180 I only moved once without the dollies, never again.
