New Host

We had a temp issue with our Reef and our single clown lost its host, a very large hammer. Have been thinking about introducing an anemome with another clown of the same spieces. Tell me what you think.

As long as your tank can meet the needs of the anemone species you have in mind I see no problem with your plan. What kind of clown and anemone do you have in mind?

We'll I'm in the process of getting the nitrates down after the temp issue. They've been at 12.5/25. I have a Ocellaris and was thinking of ritteri or carpet.
My lighting is sufficient for LPS and low light clams. Very stable tank, has been set-up for 8+ years.

Fix your water parameters before you consider an anemone. Also Ritteri anemones require high lighting so in my opinion that's not an option for you.

Ritteri is out of the question if lighting is a concern at all. Carpets (I assume you mean haddoni, because gigantea are just as light-loving as ritteris) also like a lot of light. What exactly is your tank size and current lighting setup?

I agree with the others about light for magnifica or gigantea carpets. You may be OK with haddoni. Your water parameters are fine ... I would rather put an anemone in an 8 year old tank with 25ppm NO3 than in one with 0ppm NO3 that recently had its water parameters "fixed."

I'm running 2 hoods side by side over a 125. 4/39w T-5HO ATI 2 Special & 2 Aqua Blue Plus. I used to have plate monti, Hammers, Frogspawn, and I still have a favia on the substrate at about 18 inch depth which has been doing great for years. My LFS has been suggesting bubble tips.
