Yeah, that part about ebay was meant to be tongue in cheek. I am really just glad I got in on the front end of this one (and with the oceanflo's) before they ran out. I am quite happy with the overall flow in my tank right now and, going on my 6th month after upgrading to this tank, my corals are starting to look downright happy. Even at $10-$25 more than I paid for this pump, I would still say it is a good deal. If the price goes any higher, then I think I would just try the Tunze 2045. I may end up doing that down the road anyway. I doubt that will happen, though. The price increase, I mean. I would bet that once the supply catches up with the demand, the prices for all of these will come down. The only loser in all of this seems to be Aquarium Systems - b/c I don't see how/why anyone would by an unmodded MJ for circulation purposes right now. Hopefully they will jump on the prop-pump bandwagon soon, giving consumers yet another good option from which to choose.

I am betting that the bulk of the sales for Maxijet pumps aren't from saltwater or reef aquarists. This is probably why Aquarium Systems never bothered investing in the propeller mod of their pumps. I can't see many freshwater tanks having a need for a prop driven pump.

Well I placed them back in my tank and I think they can grow on me.... Also mine came with white props and not red ones.. So they must be making various colors???
These pumps put out a more dispersed flow vs the seio rounded front and the tighter flow. To me the seio's output is very comparable to the tunze nano's.. These are a more broken up flow that is wider...
You have to watch how high you mount them in the tank as they will shoot water out the top of your tank if you aren't careful.. Also if your tank isn't deep front to back watch if you mount them in the direct rear facing forward.. The water will overflow over the front rim of the tank. I did this and found this out the hard way...
I have my two on both sides of my 46 shooting into eachother. they are also 3 inches below the surface too.
My GSP flow twice as hard compared to the original Seio 620s I had in the tank... I guess the extra 400gph made that big of a change....

Wow, there's A LOT of Tunze bashing in here. I agree the hydor looks like a good competitive pump, but the thing that makes Tunze great is Roger in customer service. :thumbsup:

I don't think people here are bashing Tunze, they are simply showing that Hydor is a option that allows you to have more flow for the money, one then has to make it's own decision (money, flow, looks and reputation) as to what is suitable for him.
Every one agrees that tunze is a good product but highly priced compared to new products that are now coming out.
