Ok lets use this thread to brainstorm about the direction of our club, so everyone please join in with your ideas.

Several topics right off hand are:

How do we want our club to grow? do we want it to get bigger? or should we leave things the way they are?

Sponsorship, should we do a store tour with our whole club one day to show ourselves, strength is in number so the more people join in the better it will be. Opcourse we need to arrange this with the stores ahead of time.

Members rule such as how many meetings you have to go to each year to be on the member's list, also gets invited to our first annual shop and chop members only frag swap party with our existing fund.

If you have any other topics please list it here and maybe we can talk more indeph about these topics when we meet the next time.

Just a few more thoughts. With club size, where are we going to have meetings? Should we do it at one central place? If we do store tours (or invasions ) we could put together a big group buy to appeal to the store. I also think there should be a minimum participation to be in on some of the shop and chops. Anyways, just some thoughts.

Yeah it would be cool to arrange something with the stores ahead of time one, make the trip worth while, two, more people will join in.

As far as a meeting place, yeah deffinitely, so Far Mary's pizza shack in Windsor is the best place until we come up with something better.

Also, To make this fair, I think their got to be some incentive for club members to stay active too for instant.

New members need to be in the club for a certain period of time and goes to meetings before they can be put onto the club list at the store to receive discounts.

Current members also have to be active in the club and goes to meetings for certain amount of time each year Or 6 months preriod to stay on the club members list to receive club benefits such as the annual frag swap and stores discounts and things like that. So we should go through our current mailing list and send out notices to the inactive members to let them know.

Some time the date that we picked for our meeting can be restrictive to those that want to come to the meeting but couldn't, we can get a survey and see when is the best time and date so most of the members can show up. So far Friday is the best day though.

Anyway, just some ideas, maybe we can vote on some of these items at the next meeting.

from my experience, most bowling alleys have large meeting rooms that rarely get used. on my way to Clays house last Friday, I drove past a bowl. I think that it might be a good central location for everyone to meet and socialize.
Plus bowling is a good "team building" event where we could have some fun on the side. Plus all bowling alleys have a bar

Hey bowling for frag, that sounds like a great idea instead of handing out cards, each person bowl to determine frag selection order :lol:

It's not my fault I'm good at bowling. I worked at a bowling alley for 5 years, and I am a certified coach. I used to help coach the kids league at Serra bowl in Daly City.

But besides my bowling skills, I think it would be a fun meeting/get together

I think that it would be a good idea to have a BOD. But I think it would be good if the BOD had like a monthly meeting to discuss ideas and then bring those ideas to the meetings and then we as a club could vote on ideas that the BOD thinks up, that way everyone is involved.

So if we tour the lfs's is there meaning behind it? Not trying to be a smart a$$ but most of you guys have better tanks, better knowledge, way better corals etc... Lets see if we can take a trip to the whole seller like "Pan ocean" (this another whole seller just can think of it right now) that would be cool! I know its a long shot but had to throw it out there. I'd just be happy learning from all the SPS growers in the club. Lets sponsor Anthony Calfo (I think thats how you spell his name) as a speaker and get him out here ha,ha,ha I'll be where ever the meetings at!

Its about time we have a woman president Yeah I like the BOD idea but Bar already use the name BOD so we could use something new like Da BOM (Body of management)

Mike, I think that you are a great unofficial President as you like to call it!

Tom, I think that we could just call it the Northcoast Reefers Committee (NCRC).

I think that it would be cool to set up like an after store hours tour at Ceasars for one of our meetings and have James give us the tour of the store like how they run their tanks, what type of lighting they have and things like that. This would be good education for the newbies or just for those in the group who might want to start having different types of corals in their tanks. We should try to set it when they get in a new shipment of corals that way people could ask questions about the different corals. Then we could buy stuff after the meeting as well.

Jo, I like that, this way we can have the store to ourselves. We could provide Ceasars with the list of corals that we like so they can try to have them there for a group buy or something like that.

It all sounds very social and uplifting,I'm in! With James back at Caesar's maybe he will have some Ideas as well. I'm kind of Curious. Has the club ever had this much enthusiam and paticipation before? it really seems like things are on the upswing. I'm excited!

Jason, Pan Ocean is nothing to look at. I used to go there with the owner of Caesar's. You can barely see the fish in the tanks. Some tanks we had to put the net in the back to get the fish to come up front into view.
