New leather, don't know the name?

I just got a new leather today but I can't figure out what type it is? Also, on a totally side note, I have some green star polyps that seem to have grown some sort of weird brown spot over its skeleton. It looks like algea but its hard as a rock when you touch it. Any ideas whats going on?

Thanks!

It's kinda hard to tell from the pic as it's a little dark, but it looks like a "Young" Soft Coral (The only name I've ever seen them under) or possibly a Devil's Hand.

Can you get a brighter pic with flash, etc?

Yeah, I don't have a very good camera unfortunately. The leather is a purple/greenish color if that helps?

The green star polyps are only there because I'm trying to identify what that brown spot on the top of it is.

Well, not a Super LE $2000 an inch coral, but not one I typically see very often.

Availability seems spotty at best.

Easier to find than a Pulsing Sinularia, , but harder to find than blue capistularia. At least where I'm at anyway!

That is awesome!! I just randomly picked it out of a small tank of corals that the LFS was having a blow out sell on. It only cost $25!!

I have has the brown stuff on my starpolyps before and it was killing them. The LFS suggested that I simply cut off the brown areas. So I did and it recovered great and started growing like crazy!
