New LED light.... flashlight

Wow, I'm a complete LED light fanboy now.... at least in the flashlight world. I picked up a Fenix LED dual AA flashlight this past week and this little thing is unreal! Puts out more light than my dual D cell Maglight on medium, on high it is just unbelievable bright for such a small flashlight (about cigar sized).

I'm not on the reef light LED bandwagon but this flashlight was my first step. I couldn't be more impressed with it.

I was in Wal-Mart the other day and they are now selling screw in LED light bulbs. I was tempted to try one, but they were $34 for a single bulb. It will be interesting to see where the lighting industry is in another 5 years. Hopefully the prices of these things will be more feasible.

This light was $65, pretty pricey but if it holds up it will be well worth it to me. We have used it about every night this week walking the dogs in the evening. I'm going out in the field with my job over the weekend I will be taking this as a compact backup light source (doing an inspection in a dark area).

I want to start doing more hiking and camping. It will be utilized in both of these activities. I paid a few extra dollar for a diffuser that goes on the end. Works great as a little lamp. On survival mode, it is advertised to do 9 lumens for 71 hours. That may not sound very bright, but it is plenty for us to make out our way while walking and for traffic to see us. Oh, high mode is 180 lumens!

LED headlamps are the best thing in the world for so many uses. Sure, ya look like a tool, but they are so handy. I have one in my hiking pack that Iu have used when walkin out of the woods in the dark, and while geocaching. When my friends and I go on our yarly cabin trip, its great for getting firewood, going to the outhouse, or w/e... Also great for doing electrical work.

I bought one for hunting season this year, due to size, light output and energy efficiency.. very impressed and it had a single red led so I didn't ruin my night vision.. picked it up at lowes for $25.. I like it, but still am not impressed with the technology for reef tanks at it's current state..

At least they seem to be making improvements on the reef side still a long way to go.
More importantly did you score a Bambi. :D

Like how well your god given eyes see in the dark or Generation 3 Mil Spec Night Vision :uzi:

I think Santa is going to bring my dad one of these for Christmas. Before too long, I think I might need to get a second one just to have for backup... did I mention I'm impressed?

...now if they would only make a Picatinny Rail mount for these. I have a few firearms begging for a light like this to be attached.

I just bought a black and decker for 30 bucks and just wanted to say it sux........ It shines a dim blue tinted big round beam. It shines out in such a large area it does not concetrate a beam on a small area. If you are 10 ft back it shines app. a 6 ft round beam. In short to much money for something a 5 dollar one does better.
