I was thinking of the ecoxotic Panorama strips, got my threads mixed up. If you are referring to Tom's LED fixtures, I would only use 1 unit for your 40 breeder but you will need to get at least 8" off the surface of the water to get the spread for the 3'

I sent an email to that link you provided and got back several responses. Check out this response:
Thank you for your inquiry about our led aquarium light.
First of all, i would like to introduce our new light in 2010 to you.
1, there are 10pcs bule led in the center of the light for the moonlight, which controlled by autotimer, and you can set time to decide when you turn on the moonlight light.
2, there are 109pcs white and bule mixed together to mimic the daylight.
3, the light can be 90w,120w, 300w, and 600w.
4, the led angel is 120 dgree,90 dgree. of ocurse, it is focal lense.
The following is the secification for 120w light.
LED quantity : 119pcs
LED configuration : 1w/LED
Color : White and Blue and uv mixed, White:14000K, Blue460nm and uv 420nm (other specification available)
Dimension : 400X213X71 (Unit : mm)

A picture was also supplied but it did not post here. It shows the unit with the auto timer referenced in #1 above. This may or may not be the same manufacturer as yours but why don't we wait to hear the response before an order is placed. Maybe a better offer or product is available. Just my 2 cents.
