New LFS. Well more like new location

Hi all...

For all you "southerners" that often make the rounds to the Bird Rd stores or the "down south" stores by the Falls, there is a "new to me" store that opened up called Aquarium Kingdom.

Apparently they used to be down by the Brandsmart on 180th, but I had never seen it. Anyway, they just moved into a new, huge space a few doors down from where House of Fins used to be.

They just moved in a week ago so the store is still shaping up, but they had a incredible selection of SPS (lots colony size), bunch of aussie corals: acans, hammers, torches, etc. Really they had a lot of everything coral wise and while light on variety of fish, I was told the "fish wall" is coming soon.

Richie, the owner (I think), is incredibly attentive and really knows his stuff. He told me they were having a Frag Swap on Nov. 21...probably worth checking out.

FYI, I also made stops at ReefTop and last week at HOF. HOF is still adjusting to the move but starting to look better and ReefTop still had their usual selection of stunning corals, but store is lacking a bit of upkeep. When it's loaded and in shape though, it's still one of the best.

But yeah, Aquarium Kingdom definitely a "new" stop on the down south LFS tour!

lol...that would have been useful info!

Sorry, didn't get hours, but as for address it's next door to this place. Which by the way, if you target the lunch hour, you won't regret a Pan con Lechon here - It's one of the best, if not the best, in town.

Cool I'll check this place out today hopefully they open on Mondays lol I'm guessing they open at 11 like most stores .

So I went today and they have a great selection of corals especially sps . Their fish wall is nice but I can see where they will add more. The only thing I wish they would do is out the prices on the glass. But they do follow you telling you prices so it evens out. Maybe when they settle in some more they will add the prices. Healthy tanks over all!. Will shop again that's for sure. And the hours are from 10 to 8 except for Sunday that's 10 to something.

Cool...glad you liked it. Thanks for filling in the missing details.

Also, I realize I called it Aquarium Kingdom. I think it's just called Aquarium Kings.

these were the same guys that were further down south near marlin or franjo rd? now they moved up a little more north?

Was there today, a little pricey, but nice big place.

Really? I thought given the size of most pieces, they were pretty fair. But then again, I haven't been in the "coral market" for quite some time.

I just appreciated that they actually had colonies for sale and not just frags. So many places now with just thumb-sized frags. Annoying.

This is true, hard to find large colonies of sps.
However, fish I noticed were a couple bucks more expensive than other places. For example bangaii cardinals are 12.99 to 14.99 at the bird rd stores. They cost 18.99 at this place. This was the same for lots of other fish.

I went today, thought the prices were reasonable. But the tanks don't look great yet, there seems to be a lot of algae (With bubbles... hopefully not dinos)

Bought an emerald crab for $4, not bad. House of fins doesn't sell them.

Might get a bunch of chromis there as well; only $4 each.

I thought the LPS prices were high, wanting $30 for a single head of duncan, but otherwise not bad.

30 bucks for Duncan's? Guy told me 10 bucks a head on the Duncan ! See this is why we write prices on tanks. If my budget was higher that day I would have bought a branch with 10 heads in it that day.

I just asked him because I was curious and yeah he told me $30!

I have a few tank-grown colonies with like 12 heads... If you're looking for some PM me! :)

I have a small colony in my small tank with 6 heads . I wasn't looking for any but I wanted to see the price and he told me 10 per head . So that's why I say I would like to see the prices in the glass that way some customers don't fall in this situation.
