New Lighting and Pictures

I just upgraded my lighting from 6x160 VHO to 3 250w HQI with 14k Phoenix bulbs. With the phonex bulbs I don't need any actinic supplement. The reflectors are sunlight supply reef optix plus 3 reflectors and my ballast's are icecap. I also installed 2 icecap speed fans in the hood, one blowing in and the other blowing out. My temperture does not go higher than 81. I am very happy with the new look and wanted to share some photo's.

lots of softies and lps. are you planning on changing o ver to an sps tank. just afraid the mh would be ovekill.

nonetheless, you have a very beautiful tank and i think ig looks gorgeous

I do have a few SPS that were doing very well under VHO. I am now trying to collect Zoa's and just let the tank grow. I have the HQI's on for 4 hours a day so the corals can adjust to the new lighting and already see my Zoa's looking better. I wanted that shimmer look from halides and better growth, thats why I made the switch.

awesome, i'm sure the zoas will take off and that is totally cool. i love those toadstools, they are like the size of my head. how many different type of zoas do you have?

The 4th picture down is a Solomon Island Leather which looks like a toadstool. There are 2 in the tank that I grew from frags, that were the size of a dime. The large one is 14" across. They have a green fluorescent color which makes them rare. I have around 20 different types of Zoa's.

hey steve! looks reallllllly nice. im actually planning on making my switch very soon, going with 3 150s over my tank with pheonix 14ks

i have a 14k pheonix 150 over my cube already and absolutely love the color. how are you liking those bulbs?

The first time I turned the Phoenix bulbs on they were to blue and I was unhappy. It took a few hours for them to turn to a crisp blue/white color. They say it takes a month for them to burn in.

Craig...Anytime...I have to return your suction gun..No luck
