New lights

If I ever get LED fixture(s) made they will not contain any whites. I have seen too many tanks smoke sps or not be able to use the full power on the second channel because the whites just overpower. They may run say 10% which is a huge waste IMHO. Plus I like blue so why not?

I'm with you on not needing too much white. That's why the fixture I bought has 48 blues, 18 whites and 6 UV's. If I don't like the whites, I can always add more royal blues.
LED's are cheap, and I'm pretty good with a soldering pencil...

well just blues might look bit too blue :) It does however sure makes all the corals pop lol

Fuzzy, It's a small world. I found out today that I live near you in the same subdivision on River Gem Ave. I placed an order today for the S400 to install on my 240 reef. Let us know what you think of yours.

JG - yes it is. We're over on Blue Major on the golf course.
We were notified that our fixtures shipped out today. Should be here in about a week.

PM me your info and you can take a look at them before I start the rework of my canopy. I'm still trying to decide if I only want to do one side at a time. I'm thinking it might be useful for others to see the difference between MH's and LED's side by side. Especially since my wife got a new camera for Christmas - this will give her a project to document. And hopefully it will give more realistic colors than my iPphone.

Im very interested to see how these turn out. Ive currently got 1 D120 over my Cube and love the color and output. Im not growing SPS but its a good light for the Cube. Running No Optics, Which i believe is 120d Optic on the LEDs themselves. I Purchased 2-d120s for my past 110 tall and was not happy with them at all.

I am purchasing the LedZeal Malibu S300 today. I will try and post pic's as it is delivered. A question I have is currently I have covers on my tank that are made up of screen door material. Do you think this will have a negative effect on the lighting on the tank? Meaning will the mesh material negatively impact the par value?

i'm tagging along for this topic. i have a pair of rb photon 16's on my 75g and am very pleased. imo, rb are tried and true. saving a few bucks is always nice though. i'm curious to see how these fixtures work for you all in the long term. thanks for sharing and please update once you have them going....

I'm not well versed on how the LED's perform... Yet :)
But my guess is there will be some loss - and at what wave lengths affected I don't know.
Once I get the lights I can put a window screen in front of one, aim it at a wall, and see what happens...?

i was notified by Kevin that my leds are being shipped today.

Fuzzy - thanks for the reply. I have the mesh top on my tank to keep fish from jumping out. Im not sure i even have any fish that can jump out of a tank??!! i may just get rid of the lids.

Did anyone compare these lights with the OR t247s? Im tempted between both. On a 250 gallon, 74 inch tank it will either be 2 s200 or 4 t247. Im still in dubio.

I doubt you would loose much light due to the screen. If you are worried you can get clear netting from bulkreefsupply.

As far as jumping fish, some are of course more prone to jumping than the others, but pretty much any fish can jump, so I would keep some sort of screen on the tank always.

I was also notified by Kevin that my order was shipped today. Tracking shows it will arrive on Friday.

One of my fixtures was destroyed in shipping. The other looks pretty darn good. But I'm not installing it until the shipping issue with FedEx is resolved.
Which I hope is done quickly. The fixture is very well built, will provide great coverage, and is unbelievably bright.

So far, there have been lots of emails, and even a phone call, but no solution.

If it's not resolved in the next couple days, I'll be turning it over to PayPal and my credit card for resolution. Something I really don't want to do.....

that has to suck. Getting new equipment for a reef tank is like Christmas! post some pictures and impressions of the fixtures.

How badly was it damaged? Maybe can fix it up, obviously still get a refund or a replacement one, to have a spare etc.

And yeah LEDs are bright, avoid looking directly at them as with any bright light really, but more so with LEDs as they are very directional :) When I was working on my DIY modules I would wear two pairs of sunglasses when i had to look at them at an angle lol.
