New Lionfish Won't Eat

Ok, here is the deal. I purchased a small V. Lionfish from the LFS last Wednesday 11/21. The little guy had a big belly on him the evening of the purchase so I didn't try to feed him that day. Thursday (Thanksgiving) I put a piece of silverside on the feeding rod and he took off after it and swallowed it right off the bat. That was the last day he has eaten. Daily I put the silverside on the rod and he acts interested by swimming up to the food.. then just goes back to whatever he was doing. We go back and forth like this for as long as 10 minutes with no actual eating. I switched to the dried krill yesterday and he did the same thing with no eating. Is there something I'm doing wrong. Please help if you have any suggestions.

how are your tank parameters? pH, ammonia, nitrite, nitrate, specific gravity, temperature?

try live food - gut loaded ghost shrimp

do you know what he was eating (if anything) at the LFS?

you may want to try live food just to get him eating but this may spoil hime and might be hard to ween off live but at least he wont die. the other option is to throw a variety of prepared foods at him soaked in garlic. mine likes frozen mysis. hope this helps

v lions have a natural tendency like some eels not to eat for periods of time for no reason. some of my lions will stop eating for a month or so then they will come around. don't worry your fish will not pass away it just chooses not to eat right now. Stop trying to feed him/her for a couple of days and then got back to trying to feed him every other day. if he does not eat in three weeks, feed him something live like feeder shrimp that always works for me, but don't feed him live right away or you will being buying live food for a long time.
