New live sand smells

I am filling my tank today. When I opened a bag of sand it smelled like rotten eggs (h2s). I'm guessing that whatever bacteria was in the sand died. My other bags of sand do not have this smell. Is this still safe to use?

Bag of live sand should be moist & some water mix. Return the bag if you can or exchange it

I didn't see where it was stated that it wasn't moist.

Bag was wet. I bought two bags bahimi pink and 3 pink Fiji. Both the bahimi bags had the smell.
