New macro and skimmer went crazy...

I bought 3 small shaving brush plants (Penicillus Dumetosus), and put them in my sump after giving them a rinse in RO. Skimmer went crazy. Is this normal? I am new to plants...plan to put them up in DT later after I take care of some other things...also they kinda smell like 'pine-trees' or 'gin', is that normal?

I assume that this is 'surface tension'...but what really happened?

Lucky I emptied my skimmer cup this morning or it would have been nasty.

anyone? Buller?

It sounds like your shaving brush is having a bad reaction to being transplanted. Or it could be that it has released all its chlorophyll and is on its way out. When this happens skimmers go crazy and overflow.

So should I remove it? Or leave it in there...tips are white. Just curious as I would rather not bomb my tank.
