Hi, I wanted to ask a couple of questions regarding the setup of a new 29 g macro tank. I want this to be a macro tank that includes several mushrooms/ricordia with a few fish like a bangaii cardinal, mandarin, some type of goby, etc., not exceeding 4-5 fish with a few snails, 2-3 blue leg hermits, and 2-3 peppermint shrimp. I'll likely get 20 lbs of cured porous LR or even dry rock and about a 3-4" SB.
I want this to serve as a food source for the herbivores in my main coral tank when I get it built as well as be something different and fun to keep. I was thinking of Botryocladia and Gracilaria as the food source for the herbivores in the main tank. Then keeping ochtodes, laurencia, codium, maybe a few mushrooms, ricordea and gorgonians just to get a nice mix. Maybe I have to much I want to put in here but I would appreciate some feedback on compatibility of these macros and corals, etc. As well as any other critiques on my plan.
I plan to run a typical reef type setup (equipment wise). This includes a CPR overflow, sicce 1.5 return pushing about 150 gph at 40" head, likely a hydor PHead, and a Maxxspect Razor 10K light. Would I need to run a protein skimmer?
