New magnifica cube/tide pool system.

Here is my new 30x30x20 cube and 20L tide pool tank system. The cube was designed to primarily feature magnifica(s) and corals are secodary.

It is lit with a 250 watt 14k MH bulb with a lumenmax reflector. Circulation is supplied by 1" SCWD and a relative large submersible pump. I don't actually know the exact output but it moves a fair amount of water. I decided to add one secondary powerhead for additional observation after I observed the tank for several hours.

The second tank was designed as a tidepool simulation display. It is lit by a 150 watt 14k MH bulb and a good amount of natural sunlight. Circulation is provided by a Maxi Jet 1200 that cycles on and off in 1 minute intervals, give or take a few seconds. The water level fluctuates around 1 1/2 inches and exposes a portion of the live rock during "wave out" portion. This tank can easily be taken offline and function as a magnifica quarantion tank if need be.

Thanks Minh! I'm still not sure what the future holds for the tide pool tank. But I put a pretty little Gbta in there, which previously had extended tentacles but now has nice, bubbled ones.

Thats a very nice setup especially the rock formation.

Does the constant start/stop of your maxijet wear it out? I've gone through a few of them when i used them for a auto topup system.

I've never had that problem and I've been using that way for years. Few pumps will tolerate it but maxi jets seem to just fine. I think they are a pretty tough little power head.

Your tank looks great. I am in the process of setting up a 36x36x22 cube to showcase my 6 year old magnifica. If you are ever in Oregon City, feel free to stop by.
