New mantis+ crappy camera= near impossible id

Ok i have a new mantis that i need an id on...BUT i have a supercrappy camera and due to his/her small size i cant get a good pic of him/her.
It is red, with a blue tipped fan-like tail (ok all of em have a fan like tail...but the tips r blue.) like that helps.... oh is there anything else i should take note of... oh btw wats a telson? i know the telson spot is a way to id them but i dont know what/where it is. thanks

sounds like Neogonodactylus curacaoensis or maybe a Peacock Mantis, but i'm just guessing i'm no expert!

i had the same problem with a mantis i was trying to get an ID of. it apparently was a type that is very shy, and never comes out of its burrow. also doesn't get but over an inch in length.

after over a year trying to get a photo, one day i saw him running around the tank (7g) looking around. i immediately grabbed all of the rock out of the tank and put it in a bucket. then the mantis had no where to hide while i snapped plenty of pics of him for about an hour.

just keep an eye on him, and be patient for it to come out

maybe leave the lights off for a couple of days, then turn them on. that seems to do the trick to get mine to come out of hiding.

This is the best pic i could get as he broke th stick i was using to lure him out. The stick was a thick as my pinkey and this mantis is about 1 inch long! it scared me cause i had been aquascaping all day with my bare hands....*shudder*

no matter how hard i try i cannot get a good pic of him... so to go along with the pic heres a discription. Hes about 1 inch in length, red with blue telson spots, he appears to only be active during the day but does not close up his den at night, he has blue splashes on the middle of his raptorial appendages with pink tips. well thats about all of a discription i can give you. can any one figure this out?
