new mantis, feeding questions!

I just picked up a mantis from my LFS tonight. They offered my only $5 for a trade in zoo frag, but then I asked if they would let me trade for one of the mantis' they have in and they said yes.

I dont know what he is, i will post pics tomorrow morning of him.

How often and how much should i feed him? He gobbled up a whole small krill tonight.

He'll be living in my fuge in my sump in about a week.

i say it depends on how big or just every other day or so

turns out he just nibbled the krill. any other food suggestions? i have silversides too will that be ok?

If he's small try ghost shrimp. Mine loves small blue hermits also.

There is no reason to push food on animals while they are adjusting to a new environment. Stomatopods can go weeks without eating and trying to feed them too soon can often cause more problems than it solves. Start with small portions of krill, crab, or shrimp. Most smashers do not eat much fish and it can be difficult to get them to take it. A meal should not be a piece of food bigger than about half the length of the carapace. That means for a 2.5 inch animal a piece of food the size of a pea.
