New Mantis ID/Advice

I was at my lfs today and they had a sweet little 2" Mantis. He has purple signaler spots on his forearms and two little red bumbs by his tail on either side.

I was watching him watch me for abit and I decided even though I was holding out for a spearer and he is a smasher I would give him a home in my fuge, since he was so interactive

Its a 20l with a 6" dsb and some LR and Cheato. It was built with a mantis in mind. His is verry cool I can see him spying on my from here and there getting used to his new home.

My question is about my light cycle, thats 24hrs on in my fuge. Is that ok for him? Also does he jump or climb out? the fuge is covered but not tighly? does my description help ID him?

Ill try to get a pic if he comes out later or tommorow.

Almost sounds like a G. smithii, hard to find.. Check Dr. Roy's list. I don't think they are jumpers, mine's not. As for the light, a burrow or PVC is recommended. Pics will help.

Ya G.smithii looks to be what it is. The guys sold it to me 10$ off since it was't colorfull like the Yellow ones or the Clowns. After looking at it though I find its verry colorfull.

how agro are these guys? will they attack my hand in the tank?

I cant belive how cool he is. How smart are they?, because it looks verry intelligent. Do they recognize people? can they be handfed?

oh ya what size pvc?

I havent been this exited about a wetpet in awhile

My fuge is full of great stuff for him snails,conch,hermits, even a few peppermint shrimp, a ton of huge amphipods too. Any dietary needs I need to be aware of? will he hunt fish?
