Hey, I currently have a 10g tank with a 4 inch sand bed and 5 pounds of live rock. I am about ready to order a mantis. Anyways, i have one of those Won Titanium heaters in it. Could a mantis break that? Thanx

I've been asking around about these. I don't know of anyone using them on mantis tanks off the top of my head. Certainly looks like a better choice than glass heaters! Does the packaging/instruction booklet make any claims about the "unbreakableness" of the heater?

How much did it cost you and where did you buy it?

On the package it says that it is unbreakable ( you can take it out of the water while still hot, throw it around, step on it ). It seems to be made of solid titanium. I got it at my LFS for around 25$ i think. I think i will try it out :-)
Thx

Any chance you can post a pic of the heater?

I've been satisfied using a 50w tronic with the plastic protector ... but then again I've been extremely lucky too; none of my bugs have ever shown any inclination of heater-bashing.

Wow ... that certainly is one intimidating heater. The only thing I'd be concerned about is the 200w size -- it'd be ideal in a 50w size (for a 6g mantis tank), but 200w is a bit much.

My current mantis tank is actually a 3g eclipse system with a single 13w PC bulb. The bulb itself acts as a heater. The tank temperature ranges from 80 to about 83 every day, which isn't ideal but is good enough for a hardy mantis.

Lmao, it comes in sizes from 50w to 200w i think. I have a 50w one on my 10g mantis tank ( presently mantisless ). That was just an example, but they all look the same.
