nice mantis no idea what it is but its sweet! where is it from in the wild? spearer or smasher (looks like a smasher but cant really tell) what tank is it going in?

i just got it from a local guy that was taking apart a tank..i think it's a smasher..i'm new to this whole things so...

i've got a 12 g aquapod and underneath i've got a 10g fuge..he's going in there for now...i'm hoping he's a smaller species so I don' have to get a bigger tank...i live in a dorm

Neogonodactylus oerstedii. The meral spots should be purple or purplish grey.

they are on the inside of the big smashing arms. go to the link below. this is a G. smithii. you can clearly see that its meral spot is a white ring with a dark centre. like Dr. Roy pointed out, your mantis' merals should be purple to purple grey.

thanks..now i just need my mantis to pose like that...lol...what does everyone suggest feeding them?? Live all the time?? He just had a peppermint shrimp that was eating my zoas...
