New Marineland 300 DD Setup Log

@ ChrisK,

How do you find using 4 Radions on the 300 DD ?
I`m going to be using 6 G2 Pro`s

With 4 radions I can grow just about anything anywhere as long as the radions are at about 80% intensity. Keep in mind mine are only G2's. I think you will see less shading with the 6 Radions and not have to run them so high. What are you planning on keeping? I keep all SPS.

Thks for the info, I will be sticking to a SPS dominated as usual.

I have 6 now and was running them with the stock reflector at about 65% I prefer having more play with the colors by using more radions and less of a output % and increase those colors I need to achieve the growth and overall look of the tank.

I agree with that. I am not running the standard template. I am running a 16K color temp so according to my Apex it is maxed out, but really its only about 80ish%. I am actually looking at getting 2 more radions at some point.

I'm setting up 4 G3 Pros on my build (72" long as well). I will keep tabs on your tread to see if 4 is enough or if I need to jump to 6. I'm starting with 4 since I haven't decided if I'm going the SPS route or not on the big tank.

Looking forward to seeing your progress.

+1 for the Bianca Beauchamp reference. Well played. :)

How wide is your tank? Mine and the OP's tanks are 36" wide which is why we need more radions. I would say tanks that are 27" or less wide could just use 3 radions.

Looking good! I really like those light mounts, think of redoing mine with those. Canopy is heavy isnt it?

it takes two people to take it down. Not that heavy considering the shear size of it.

What I liked is that they have openings that stretch the length of the tank so you get a good air exchange.

When you get the rest of the plumbing done take some good photos and post. I'm always looking to see how others are doing their plumbing and how things turn out.

I have a 200DD myself...just got the first fish in it yesterday. I have an open top, with my lights hanging and I get a lot of light spill into the room. I'm considering buying the monterey canopy. If you don't mind me asking: what is the internal height?
