New Marineland 300 DD Setup Log

With the 300 set up stock, each corner overflow will drain 700gph for a total of 1400gph. I would imagine after going with your intended drain setup you will need to be returning a bit more than 1500gph.

Each corner flo will have all holes used as drains meaning each corner flo will have 1 x 1" drain with a valve and the other 1" with no valve, that will make it a total of 4 x drain holes. More than enough for 1500 gl flow. The Return lines will no longer be coming out of the cornerflo, but instead they will simply pass in the rear of the tank with elbows.

here is a link that really easy to understand. http://gmacreef.com/herbie-dual-overflows/ & http://gmacreef.com

The Hammerhead on a plumbing Manifold( 4 total water outputs with valves) puts the power and low wattage of the pump to good use.

The break down is as follows:

Barracuda/Hammerhead volume at my height les head loss and friction= 3200 gph aprox.

returns to tank= 1500
Chiller = 500 gph ( just a back up)
UV and Ozone reactor = 700 gph
2x reactors = 400 gph

total average: 3100 gph giv or take, and Im using the cuda impeller , If I need more I can swap it out and add the Hammerhead.

The second link was very helpful http://gmacreef.com
. The diagram helped a lot. Being that both your over flows are drains where are your returns going? Did you drill or have a 3rd hole in your over flow boxes?

Hey Mustang glad it helped.

They are just hanging off the rear a 1.5" T reduced to 2x 1" on elbows. One in each corner right next to the cornerflos.

I really like your aquascaping so far, it leaves plenty of room to grow. A lot of guys jam pack there display full of rock and it just looks cluttered.. Also you won't lose frags as easy, they always seem to drop in a place you can't get to without rearranging.

Thanks, That was exactly my intention, no clutter plus when corals grow, I often experienced not having the adequate space for them and then end up playing to much with the aquascape and it never looks the same afterwards lol..

My two favorite photos from this thread are below. Isn't that sad, there is a pic of a women presumably only wearing plastic dip, and I pick plumbing and rock-work. Honestly I love the clean lines in the plumbing. I starved for this in my build, and on the few pieces that are not in line drive me nuts. Funny because no one ever looks at that, but bothers me. Also the cove you have created with the rock is awesome. I am excited to see the rest of your plans.

I like your style.

Thanks for the kind words bpcardona,

On this build I wanted a cleaner look with my plumbing and decided to not cut any corners lots of unions and 45`s I wanted the least amount of friction and loss.

I can't wait to get it up and running.

The filter sock holder I made wasn't the best and it cracked, So I called my buddy Jean Francois at Reef Concept here in Laval to help me out since this guy does incredible work .
I will post picks of his work when I get it.

They have there 750 Gallon L shape build on RC its crazy professional and he made almost everything himself even the skimmer . here is a link:

Man...these guys at Reef Concept really work fast not even 24 hours and they sent me an email to say my filter sock tray is complete :)

They even made it recessed so the socks fit flush

Rob! Beautiful build so far. I'll be following.
I love the 300 dd would have been my choice if I didn't have a funky area to fill.
Love the scape.

Love the aquascape...

Think your buddy that made your filter sock holder would ship to Oklahoma?

Nice progression on the thread.. Love the aqua scape also..

300dd is my dream tank, well the reality can actually afford dream tank lol.. I think I'm going to have to settle for the 200dd due to open space in my house that the other half will allow me to use.
