New Maxima and lighting

i purchased a 3 inch maxima about 1 1/2 months ago. I currently run a 4 lamp T5 Icecap setup w/ 660 ballast (Overdriven). The clam is about 15 inches from the lamps on a rock, it is doing fine. My question: Can I put the clam on the sand bed which would be about 20 Inches from the lights without any problems. My combination of lamps produces pretty good PAR. Thanks for your feedback.

maxima are rock dwelling clams and should avoid be placed on the sandbed. They are also more light demanding. Mine is up on the rocks about 10-12" away from a 150w MH bulb.
Nice looking clam though :)

+1 about keeping him on the rocks. You could try putting it on a small rock or shell on the sand bed, but I think that it might not be enough light.

I put my maxima down in the sand, but on top of a big frag plug. So far he seems to enjoy it down there. On the rocks he was not in a position where he could really be seen and I was afraid he would get stung by some other corals that were nearby,
