New Maxima laying on sand

came home tonight and my new maxima that I got this afternoon as a gift fell off his rock onto the sand. I hate the first 24 hours or so until they extend their foot. Well anyway, he had snail slime on him because the sand snail monsters (natharius) slid all over him. I wonder if they can slither in his mouth and harm him?

nassarius snails shouldnt bother a clam unless its dying. right the clam, and try again. worst case scenario (which isnt even really that bad), put him in the sand with a rock or something under him, so if/when he attaches, you can move the whole unit.

i agree, your nassarius ( or other clean up crew members ) shouldn't / wouldn't bother a healthy clam. the clean up crew is often blamed for the problem when they are only there doing their job.

the whelk is a clam predator that resembles a nassarius snail. this link to melev's site can help you tell the difference.
