New Maxima placement

I acquired a teal green Maxima from a local reefer. He said it was from the Marshall islands aquaculture. He had it 10 inches under 250 HQI EVC 14K lighting. This clam is around 2". I have 250 HQI EVC 10K in a 90 gallon. My lights are 10" from the water. His par is 88 and mine is 147. My question is can or should I put it on the bottom and leave it, or move it up to the top of the liverock. I have a barebottom tank except for a 1/2 inch or less layer of crushed coral for looks. It would be convienient to leave it on the bottom so i dont have to worry about it falling or not attaching etc. Also should I feed phyto to a clam this size, and if so how.
Please post your suggestions. Mike

at 2" the clam is right on the edge of needing to be feed. with the lighting you have i think it would be safe to not feed. as for if you can leave the clam at the bottem of the tank, the clam will tell you that. i like to keep my croceas and maximas closer to the light because the have much better color there. if the clam starts to hyper-extend or darken/brown then move it up closer to the light

when the mantle is sticking way out. most people think its a sign that the clam is happy, but its really starving for light
