Hi all just joined here. I have a few ?'s im starting a 30 gal tank i currently have a 90 gal sw fish only tank. So my 1st ? is the filter for a sea horse tank i see there a in- tank drip filter thats put by Current . i would like any suggestions you all could give me. By the way reefnut im not to far from you down here in York. the tank is currently empty and dry so im starting from scratch and in no hurry .

thanks

Hi!!

I don't know to much about mechanical filtration. All of my tanks have LR, sand, & a good protein skimmer. So can't really advise you there! But happy to hear any other questions you may have!! (and I hope I can give a somewhat helpful answer!)

What species SH are you thinking??

Thank you both for the ideas I understand that the horses are messy eaters thats y i was interested in the intank filter think i need to research some more also what about lighting nothing specail

Seahorses don't have any specific lighting needs. I have noticed that seahorses don't like intense lighting so I wouldn't recommend metal hallides personally - but I have T5 lighting on my tank because I keep corals also.

I agree with urban, plus you will have a hard time keeping the tank at a lower temp for the horsies with halides!

As for the messy eater part, you can train your horses to a feeding station & clean-up would be cake! =)

thanks again for the responses i was thinking a corel life t5 as well now for the big ? which to decide on i would like 2 pair and im working witha 30 gal bow front tank what would u all suggust i look at

thanks

I suggest you look at only getting one pair of H. erectus from seahorse source; or finding a place to source H. fuscus from ORA.
