New Members and Introductions

Welcome to the club Brian. Were you and Shilo MARS members by any chance? I used to be a member of MARS and I remember there was someone who is a Falconer in that club, since there aren't too many Falconer/Reefers around I was just curious if that was one, or both of you guys?

Hi Everyone,

This is Cindy and Bernie. We recently set up a 135 gal reef tank that we purchased from someone who is relocating. We've had a salt water fish only tank in the past, but this is our first reef tank. We just joined NVReefers and are hoping to gain some knowledge from other members.

Hi Cindy and Bernie. Welcome to the club!!!

Mothra....yup thats us. when we lived out by Travis we were MARS members but now we live in San Joaquin. Shilo and I both still fly birds for sport but we are not working at Travis anymore. We decided to move on due to the AFB being contract work. We have moved all over the US, doing work with Birds of Prey. Time to settle. :)

Hey Sermech. It's Mike right? I'm pretty sure I remember you from a few years ago. Good to see you're getting back in the game!

Hi all. My name is Chris. I live and work in Tracy, CA. I started my first reef in June '07. There is a photo of my set-up in the 'My Gallery" section. My focus has been mostly Acroporia and Montiporia. But being a newbie I also have the following invertbrates; 2 serpent stars, porites with xmas worms, crocea clam, coco worms, blastmussa, mushrooms, ricordias, green star polyps, zooanthids and actively pulsing xenia. At one time I had a robust cleaning crew but lately I've been culling out hermits and nassarius snails. Resident fish include bartlett's anthias, baggani cardinal, chromis', sailfin and kole tang, xmas wrasse and a yellow watchman goby. I don't plan on modifying the stock list anymore than this but I'm always on the look out for more SPS especially a green and purple plating montiporia. I use chaeto in my refugium and cull a large amount every couple of weeks. Usually I throw it in the trash but I post to see if anyone wants it for free.
I'm also a huge snowboarder. So if anyone is really into steeps, deeps, bumps and hiking let me know. I usually ride solo but always am looking for someone to ride/ski with.

Hi Chris,

Got a closer pic of your setup? We have a couple of member who are in the Tracy area.

Nice tank, do you have a closer pic of your setup and coral?

Lak

Chris,

Welcome to the club. Hope you can make it to a meeting soon. Looks like you have a nice setup, get some closeup shots!

Where do you ride at? Before this year I was getting about 30 days a year in at Kirkwood. Due to work and other stuff this is the first in a while that I haven't had a pass. I've cut a lot of boot tracks on the ridge lines up there and used to be in pretty good shape. We did a short hike about 2 weeks ago and I got owned... hitting the bar for a couple hours before didn't help either :hmm5:

I'm getting a little too old to go off in the park but I still have love for cornices, cliff drops, and powder cartwheels.

Hi Chris,
Welcome to NVR and reefing. This is a good place to ask question and meet other people who is addicted to the hobby. Hope you can make it to this coming meeting.

Hi,
Name is Jess. Just moved down from the NW. I've been doing saltwater about 8yrs now, worked up to small sps farm in Eugene, Or. That was a couple of moves ago. Just moved to Stockton, have assembled my greatest work yet. 300 gallons with all the bells and whistles! I'm in the process of building a filtration room on the end of the house, after which I hope to punch a hole in the wall and have a display tank in my family room.
I've been in a couple of small reefer clubs, always enjoyed the stories, swapping frags and learning from others. I hope to catch the next meeting as I'm out of town this for this months meeting. I've been stomping around Sac and Stockton for a couple of months now trying to find you guys, Ryan finally tipped me at Carters. Looking forward to meet everyone!

Welcome to the area and the club. I too am working on a big tank, it's a lot of fun. I actually bought my tank from a woman in Oregon and had it shipped down here. It would be interesting if you knew her...
